Michael Donnelly

Born and raised in Flint, MI, Michael Donnelly grew up canoeing the AuSable and Rifle Rivers and sailing the lakes of NE Michigan. His favorite activity is hiking to mountain lakes for a cool swim. He plans to join the relatively smooth Green River stretch from Green River UT to the Colorado River. After decades in the Pacific Northwest, Michael is getting around to exploring the canyonlands of SE Utah, with a goal joining in with activist friends in establishing a preservation land trust retreat somewhere in the area. He already is involved with similar private preservation efforts in three states.

He has long been active in the preservation of public Ancient Forests in the NW. He is co-founder of a few small grassroots forest protection groups. He was the plaintiff in the first successful Old Growth lawsuit. He served as vice-president of the statewide conservation group - the Oregon Natural Resources Council when the ONRC led the effort to protect out remaining Ancient Forests.

Michael runs an Oregon  business that restores historic properties. He also is the president of Pahtoo Music, a small record label that produces Native music by T'ygh singer Quiltman Sahme and environmental music by singer-songwriter and SW river guide Melissa Crabtree.
