John Weisheit
Conservation director of Living Rivers and
the Colorado Riverkeeper
John Weisheit is the conservation director of Living Rivers and the Colorado Riverkeeper. For nearly three decades, John has been a commercial river guide on the Colorado River and its many tributaries. He has a long history working to mobilize people for its protection, first as founder of Colorado Plateau River Guides, then founder of the Glen Canyon Group of the Sierra Club, as well as Living Rivers. In 2003 he was selected to be the Waterkeeper Alliance’s Colorado Riverkeeper. He is also the co-author of Cataract Canyon: A Human and Environmental History of the Rivers in Canyonlands.
